Operating Systems

We have a merged Operating Systems and Computer Networks course and I decided to go with the Schaum's Outlines for the two textbooks with these titles at $18 each (much less online/used). Also there are free e-book downloads for various Schaum's Outlines. The OS text has all the traditional presentation of a classic expensive text, but more concise and full of answered exercises. This works well for today's student who is more likely to skim wordy classic texts. The downside is lack of publisher resources for instructors, lack of any unanswered exercises in the text, and lack of the case studies on specific or modern operating systems. These would have to be supplied by the instructor or the students in project/presentations.
