Music and Computing

This group exists to foster discussion and dissemination of research and teaching methods related to the intersection of music and computer science.  Its content explores ways in which each can be used to enhance education through the other.  The rationale for this initiative is that, on the one hand, music applications are inherently interesting to CS students, and there are many computational issues in these applications that both illustrate CS concepts and present interesting problems.  On the other hand, technology is used so heavily in virtually all music performance and composition today that it behooves musicians to learn basic computing concepts to help them develop and refine their craft to the fullest extent possible.
